​Welcome to my wee corner of the internet filled with some of the things I love most; photography, writing, saying yes to adventure & so much more!

I've been obsessed about documenting life with my camera most of my life. I started Heidi Horton Photography in 2012 when my passion for photography out grew just being a hobby and in 2016 it became my dream full time job! 

My biggest fan & supporter when it comes to any project or dream I have is my husband Matt. We've been married for almost 15 years (which is showing my age!) and as cliche as it sounds this guy is my best friend. We love doing life together and we have a lot of fun and laughter as we go.

For almost a decade Matt and I shot weddings together as a team. We photographed over 100 couples on their special days and to this day many of those couples have become good friends of ours. I miss the wedding scene & how much fun we had documenting such incredible events but these days my photography is focused on portrait & travel. 

This year we made the hard decision to sell up what was our dream property (where we had designed & built a tiny home along with a self-sufficient homestead garden) in order to go travelling full time... If you can't tell we're not afraid to change things up & we love chasing our dreams, even when they are slightly mad!). So we're embarking on our longest road trip yet (you can follow the journey over on Horton Adventures).​

Of course my camera is going to be coming along for the adventure so jump over to the blog for updates as the journey unfolds! This lifestyle change also means I'm taking my photography business all over NZ (check my location calendar to see where I'm headed!).
