I like to think I'm pretty talented with my photographic skills, but I 100% know that what has really driven the success of my photography business has been the personal brand I have created. Wedding couples didn't book us because we had the best portfolio in NZ, they booked us because they wanted Heidi & Matt to capture their special day. I get more portrait bookings through word-of-mouth & recommendation than I do from Google ranking - because I've worked hard on creating a reputable brand filled with my personality.
I believe putting your personality into your business is what makes you stand out from the crowd. Any small business can sell, sell, sell with photo after photo of product. We see ads everywhere, all day long. But as humans what we really crave is connection. This was something I learned early on in my own business. Whenever I posted photos behind the scenes, fun personal updates, my dog(!!!) - those posts got so much more engagement than other posts. Sure my audience love seeing the weddings & the portraits, but what I find they really engage with is seeing the real me, the person they're considering doing business with. Seeing that we have things in common and you know what?!... I love that I attract like-minded clients because we get on like old friends and have such a great time during shoots and meetings.
Your customers want to see the person behind the business, how you do what you do...AND why you do it. Customers buy from someone they can relate to. But you also don't want your feed to be selfie central - you're a professional business boss after all!

These personal brand shoots are fully customised to you. We start with a design consultation where we sit down and chat about what you want to achieve from your shoot and brainstorm ideas for wardrobe, styling, location etc. The shoot itself is in my signature laidback, conversational approach where I'll guide you through relaxed posing and setups. After the shoot I process & edit the photographs, deliver them to you via an online gallery and you can begin using them as for your business as you wish. Yep, it's that simple - no photo credit conditions or complicated terms of use - I want you to be able to use the photos for your brand as your own!

My Personal Brand Portrait fee is $499 + travel (if any).
