HEIDI HORTON

golden hour PAW-TRAITS 🐾

Hello, I’m Heidi & I am a dog person 🙋‍♀️. And I'm guessing if you're here - you are too! Teddy, our little schnauzer sidekick, shows me daily just how much joy, loyalty, and laughter these furry souls bring to our lives.

That's where my Golden Hour Paw-trait Series 🐾 comes in. These dog portrait sessions are my way of capturing that love. They’re not just “pet photos.” They’re quiet moments (and sometimes zoomies!), wagging tails and sun-kissed glowy portraits that become pieces of art... the kind you’ll treasure for years to come.

PAW-TRAITS 🐾 FROM $359
Includes 30 minute golden-hour sunset photoshoot,

PREPARING FOR YOUR PAW-TRAIT 🐾 SESSION:
Here are a few simple things to make sure we capture your pup at their best:

Bring along:
  • A neutral collar and/or leash that won’t distract from your beautiful dog or the scene. PS: Don't worry about whether your dog can be on or off leash - I can photograph them either with or without
  • Their favourite treats and a toy that gets their attention (bonus points if it squeaks!).
  • A small towel in case of muddy adventures.
  • Water & bowl if it’s a warm evening.
  • An optional personal touch; anything that tells your story — a blanket, a ball etc.

A quick tip: A light walk before the session may help your dog feel calm but not tired. And don’t worry — if they’re a little wiggly, that’s part of their charm & as a fellow dog mum I will come prepared for all scenarios!

What to wear (for you, not the dog): Soft, simple, and timeless always photographs best. Choose neutral or earthy tones that complement your dog’s colouring and the sunset light. Think a flow-y dress, jeans and a knit, or something that feels like you on your best relaxed day.

During the Shoot: Expect a calm, fun, and conversational session. I’ll guide you with gentle prompts like:
  • “Whisper their name.”
  • “Walk toward me together.”
  • “Tell them they're such a good boy/girl.”
You don’t need to pose perfectly — your job is just to be present. I’ll handle the rest.

I may also have my assistant, husband and fellow dog parent - Matt, with me who may help with gear setup, treat dangling & toy squeaking and also possibly capturing some behind-the-scenes footage.

After Your Session: Within a couple of weeks, you’ll receive your artwork in a curated gallery full of warmth, emotion, and that creamy sunset glow. You’ll be able to choose your favourites for digital keepsakes and wall art — each one a reminder of how special this season together really is.

Final thought:
These sessions are about love, not perfection. Dogs will be dogs — they’ll sniff, roll, shake, and sometimes completely ignore me — and that’s exactly what makes these portraits magical. Because from personal experience I know that one day, these photos won’t just show what your dog looked like… they’ll remind you how they felt to love.
